In an effort to expand our reach to more students and more ideas across the nation, GirlsComputingLeague will be working with Harvard University to host its first AInnovation Business Summit. This all-day event will be a competition for students to bring their best business technology start-up ideas, along with an educational workshop component to help student shape their concepts into reality!

What is the AInnovation Business Summit?

The AInnovation Business Summit works to educate the next generation of technologists, innovators, and leaders. From researchers to business trailblazers, this summit is a unique opportunity to interact with the leaders in the field from Harvard Business School. The goal of the competition will be for students to pitch their best ideas for a business start-up concepts in front of seasoned experts from the Harvard Business School. Contestants will be awarded for their ideas and can bring everything from company proposals to working demos of their products to win. Workshops will be available from our partners to help students excel their concepts with machine learning and artificial intelligence. Who Can Attend?

All students in grades 6-12, regardless of gender, interested in pitching their business of product idea are welcome to attend. Due to limited space, this event is for students in this age range only.

Where Will It Be?

The competition will be held at Harvard University in the Fong Auditorium. We will let you know more details as soon as the details are ironed out!

When Is It?

The event will last all day on March 28, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and will include breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks for all students in attendance.

GirlsComputingLeague is on the hunt for students who wish to use cloud technologies in new ways to revolutionize our world as a whole.

GirlsComputingLeague is searching for students to demonstrate their best ideas in cybersecurity and show how companies and governments can best strategize to defend against attacks.

Healthcare

Where to stay / What to do

Recommendations on accomodations and places to visit in Cambridge, MA are coming soon. Please stay tuned as we continue to develop out our schedule of events!

Registration, Breakfast, and Student Networking - 8:30 AM
Students need to arrive promptly to register with our student leaders for the event. Due to the volume of students expected at this event, we recommend you arrive a bit before 8:30 AM to ensure you are properly registered before introductions and coding begins.
Keynote Presentation from Harvard Business School - 9:00 AM
GCL’s student leadership and the Harvard Business School will open the event with a brief introduction and ensure all inidivuals and teams are ready to jump into planning and workshops.
Business Case or Artificial Intelligence Workshops Begin - 10:00 AM
Students will have the choice between attending a business case development workshop or artificial intelligence workshop. We highly recommend that teams pre-build their presentations as much as possible so that way students can be focused on the learning opportunities within the workshops at hand.
Lunch with a Harvard Admission Officer Presentation and Q&A - 12:00 PM
Lunch will be served on behalf of GirlsComputingLeague during a presentation hosted by Harvard University. We will do our best to accommodate all allergies and needs of our student’s dietary restrictions.
Student Business Pitches Begin - 1:00 PM
After lunch, we will move straight into student presentations. Teams and Inidivuals will have the opportunity to present their work to their track’s SMEs for judging
Harvard and MIT Student Panel Innovation Competitions Panel - 3:00 PM
GCL will host a Harvard & MIT Student Panel on preparing students for innovation and research competions.
Awards Ceremony - 4:00 PM
Awards for the competition will be presented here, and students can expect the event to come to a close at around 5:00 PM.

Are you ready to sign up for the AInnovation Business Summit Summit? That is awesome news, we are ready and excited to have you! Below is our registration for the summit (powered by Eventbrite). Please fill out your initial registration registration as completely as you can to ensure we give you the best possible chance of attendance and success at the competition. Please also take a look at the competiton rules below and finish your registration by submitting your team information, abstract, and project draft. Thanks for applying and good luck!

Competition Rules

The rules are simple:

Developing Your Project Early is Encouraged

While you can edit your presentation to our judges panel up until the moment your present to our judges, we encourage you to have the majority if not all of our presentation, code, and working demos complete by competition day. Because there are workshops at this competition as well, we want to make sure our students have as much time as they need to interact with the other offerings at this event.

Open Source & Past Work Permitted

Teams are welcome to make use of code libraries and open source volumes in their projects, so long as an original creation comes of using these resources. Teams are also free to build upon past projects they have already built.

Mentors are Available

On the day of the event, teams and individual competitors will have access to volunteers, organizers, and sponsors to refine their project before presenting. This consultation may prove helpful if teams prepare to receive such assistance beforehand.

Teams Must Unite

If you are competing with a team, all registered team members must be in attendance on competition day. Absent team members may lead to potential team disqualification within the competition. Additionally, all team members must register with their team names and members before March 7th (see below) also discourages teams larger the 5-6 members as awards are limited and will be divided among team members.

Abstracts and Team Registrations Are Now Needed

After registering on Eventbrite above, you will need to complete your regsitration using the button below by submitting your team name, team members, and a 5-7 sentence abstract of your project. You are also welcome to submit your first draft of your project for early review, should you decide to do so. Team members and pre-registrants must fill out the form on this next page INDIVIDUALLY and submit their abstracts individually; duplicate presentations for teammates, however. are allowed.
